China+1 strategies are gaining ground. China’s slow economic recovery and rivalry with the U.S. is a concern to foreign investors. But the challenges date even further back. Rising labour costs, market protectionism, and technology transfers have forced many companies to rethink China’s position in the value chain for the past 8-10 years.
At the same time, China continues to be highly attractive in terms of growth potential and a world class industrial complex. Foreign companies do not want to miss out on the opportunities of having a presence in China.
The aim of the China+1 theme group is to examine options for reducing dependency on China, while remaining committed to the Chinese market. We exchange experiences, debate viable strategies, and talk to company managers that are considering or have already implemented a decision to move functions to other locations.
All meetings are conducted online.
